Rochester School Saving £200K by 2050 with Solar Panel Installation
At Sunbright Energy, we are committed to helping institutions transition to sustainable energy solutions. A school in Rochester approached us with a vision of becoming more environmentally friendly in 2025. Our team designed and installed a high-efficiency solar panel system that not only reduces their carbon footprint but also significantly cuts their energy costs.

Reducing Energy Costs in a High-Usage Environment
Schools consume a large amount of electricity, particularly during daytime hours when classes are in session. To maximise efficiency, we installed a 68-panel system on the most southern-facing aspect of the school’s roof. This positioning ensures optimal sunlight capture throughout the day, enhancing energy production. We also designed the system with a clear perimeter around the panels, allowing easy maintenance and cleaning. The system is expected to generate 32,105 kWh per year, helping the school to substantially reduce its reliance on the National Grid.
Benefits of a Hybrid Inverter
The system is equipped with a Fox ESS H3 Pro 25kW 3ph Hybrid Inverter, an advanced solution that provides flexibility for future upgrades. The hybrid inverter allows the school to add solar batteries at a later stage if needed, while also offering remote monitoring via an intuitive app. Given the school’s peak energy usage during daytime hours, our team advised that battery storage might not be necessary to achieve significant savings. However, the hybrid inverter ensures that if the school chooses to incorporate battery storage in the future, the process will be seamless.

Environmental Impacts and Energy Savings
Switching to solar energy significantly reduces the school’s carbon footprint. The system will offset 6,647 kg of CO2 annually, which is equivalent to:
-
Eliminating 23,741 miles of car travel emissions
-
The CO2 absorption of 305 trees
In addition to these environmental benefits, the school will also enjoy substantial financial savings. The installation is projected to save £7,135 per year, reducing electricity costs from £27,850 to £22,300, while also generating £1,585 in additional income from exported solar energy. The system is expected to pay for itself within 4 years, with a 25-year net present value of £250,163
